The collegiate public truly trust bottling companies like Coca-Cola® and Pepsi-Cola® to deliver the purest forms of drinking waters, while the water provided by local governmental plants is frowned upon.

It seems that this generation has no ethical concerns of the effects from buying these delightful bottles of water. Economical and environmental concerns arise when it comes to purchasing bottled water from your local convenient store.

According to statements from Mayor Rocky Anderson of Salt-Lake City, Utah, consumers spend more than $11 billion dollars a year on bottled water, purchasing water from regions outside of the U.S., such as Norway and Fiji.

The emissions from shipping and trucking such precious water add to the carbon foot printings and a buildup of green-house gases of the ecosystem. "Nine out of 10 bottles end up at landfills instead of recycling companies," said mayor Anderson.

Thirty million bottles are discarded daily leading to 20 billion bottles thrown away a year. These numbers are climbing at a disturbing rate as consumers continue to ignore the effects of their water choices. Considering all of these occurrences with thought why not just buy a filter for your tap.

Buying a simple filter can remove an array of different chemicals found in your local tap water saving money and resources. PUR and Brita are some of the leading home filters in the market. Prices for filters are not expensive with pitchers starting as low as $10 to faucet mounts as low as $20. So just think of all the things that provide you with one bottle of water.
