N.C. A&T will advance to the second round of the MEAC conference tournament following a 65-55 win over Howard Tuesday night.
It was the Aggies first conference tournament win since 2007.
With 13:05 in the second half the game was tied at 39 and the Aggies went on a 9-0 run from there never turning back.
Nic Simpson had a game high 21 points off the bench.
James Porter scored 12 points and Thomas Coleman added 9 and 14 rebounds.
“Everybody’s mindset on the team was it’s going to be a team effort,” said Simpson about the team’s effort down the stretch.
“I’m not going to be the one to let everybody else down. I think when everybody’s got that mindset… That’s the difference.”
The Aggies will face top-seeded Morgan State tomorrow at 7 p.m.
