N. C. A&T men’s basketball player Tavarus Alston was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference second-team last Thursday.

The senior point guard was voted on by the conference coaches and sports information directors and is the only Aggie to earn MEAC honors since 2008.

The Greensboro native averaged 15 points, 4.1 assists and totaled 45 steals, all team highs.

“Your point guard is your quarterback - that’s just the responsibility that falls with it,” Eaves said.

“He’s got to be a vocal leader. He’s got to be aggressive to the basket -- he’s got to keep us pushing. He can’t get complacent. It all starts with him.”

Alston and the Aggies will make their tournament debut against Howard Tuesday at 9 p.m.
