That is where the African Pride hair company comes in to play, as they offer a complete line of hair care items that are available for men and women.
African Pride has been making products now for 15 years. In that span, they have created a line of hair-care products that speaks to just about every hair-care need.
Brand manager Anthony Standifer went into detail with the different options that they offer and how their products can speak to all people.
“We make relaxers for women who are straightening their hair. We make texturizers for men and women who are looking to texturize their hair.
We have braid sprays for women who are wearing braids or natural hair.
“Just about any type of product that you can think of is available through our company.”
Standifer added that it is important as manufacturers to be able to speak to all of the different people and types of hair and be concerned with what they are looking for in their hair care products.
 “We are diverse in terms of the consumer’s needs because black women are not monolithic. They are diverse in terms of their hair care needs.
“That is one of the things that we pride ourselves on.”
The company takes a very specific method of marketing to colleges and people of that age. They have frequent national advertising and work with retailers such as Walgreen’s and Wal-Mart, which brings the promotion that is visible to consumers.
“We also do special events that really speak to the college demographic and we are looking to reach out to those potential consumers.”
African Pride was started in 1992, and has a long history of making products for African Americans.
They brand is manufactured by Colomer USA and their products can be found at retail outlets around the country, as well as beauty supply stores.
